More time spent practicing what you’ve written will bring quicker results. If you only have 20 minutes to spend on your journal, spend 10 writing and 10 reading it over and over.

Free Chat (My fashion) Grace, I think you should plan some topics to discuss ahead of time. As you get better and better at journaling, we will have more time to spend on Free Chat. I am serious about me not initiating conversation. You must draw conversation from me any way you can. If we have 30 minutes left in the class and you aren't talking, I'll pull out my newspaper. Just kidding…but I think you get my point.

Please evaluate the student's progress in the following category:
Speaking ability : Grace is currently working on some difficult accent transitions. I can see progress. This is hard to do. She must retrain her musculature in her mouth. It takes time. She must focus more and not worry about messing up. Her tendency to laugh at herself when she makes a mistake is a natural defense mechanism to her “perceived” loss of face at having muddled the target sound. This is difficult stuff. Don’t think so much.
Reading ability:
Again, to improve in this area, one must practice DAILY. Grace has the desire, but maybe not the time to do this.
Writing ability:
A very good first effort. We have a lot of work to do in this area, but the course is heavily weighted on Grace’s writing contribution. The more she writes, the more we will accomplish.
Error corrections from last week a Did the student correct the errors made in the last class and show any improvement today? 11/24: should try to be aware of words that have “th” sounds.
