”I wish I could.”和”I hope I can.” 差別在哪？
Q: Can you come to the party tonight?
你今晚能來參加派對嗎？
去：I hope I can.
如果希望參加，也很可能會參加，可以說 「I hope I can.」，只是還不確定可不可以去。
不去：I wish I could.
意思是不能參加，也是婉轉地表示不克出席，wish本身就表示難以達成的願望。
若wish和that後面引導的子句，所表達的時間一致，那that子句就用過去式。
I wish I could travel around the world.
我現在真希望我可以環遊世界。
that子句所表達的願望比wish的時間點還早，那就用過去完成式。
I wish I could have traveled around the world.
我現在真希望我當時可以環遊世界。
Hope表示願望很可能達成，後面直接加不定詞to V/that子句...等等。
I hope to travel around the world next year.
我希望明年我可以環遊世界。
